Make no bones about it. Omniviper is one of the best micro-managers in this game. Of all the BO's on this site, save for the IXiomatic Ad-hoc Pummeling Plethroa Overload, none requires more micromanaging than this one. To pull this off, you have to be a pro at micromanagement. One false move and all your precious fremen snipers die in one bit pile of Mino fire. But if you are good at micromanagement, then this tactic brings extraordinary results against both Harkonnen and Atreides. Omniviper does not recommend it against Ordos.
This BO is a Strat Shack exclusive. Omniviper himself was good enough to demo it for me. I asked him if he would donate it to the Strat Shack because I remember him using it me many times. I always remembered my frustration back when I was learning the Atreides house when he pummeled me time and time again using this. So I asked him if he would share it with the community, and here it is! Many of the best players have fallen to this ingenious tactic that Omni came up with. All the screenshots are actually Omniviper playing, and the details below are all from his written explanation that he emailed me. Use this knowledge well, and it will bring you many victories.
Requirements:
QM, or 10K No Pre, though you could basically do it on any setting.
Map Size: Best with medium to large maps.
2 or 4 player
You play Ordos with the Fremen Subhouse
Build Order: (directly from Omniviper himself, this is not my interpretation of it, this is the actual BO!)
(windtraps not included, just make them as needed)
QM VERSION:
build order is:
factory
fremen tent
refinery.
factory
fremen tent
factory
fremen tent for fastest building times
unit count:
Gasers and aa troopers 10 gasers 5 aa troopers (optional but they are kept in
reserve to rush the buildings
Laser Tanks:: you can go as few as 2 or a little more. These are your main rushing anti armor and anti building units
Fremen Warriors (snipers) 2 mininimum. the more the better. but if your going to
rush you'll really only need a 2 to start with. These are the best anti infantry
units in the game. They have a good rate of fire and are usually a 1 hit
infantry kill.
Notes: when taking on atreides or harks usually you'll run into
buzzsaws, sandbikes, minos rocket tanks, and assorted infantry. The laser tank
can out perform all these units. You'll have to pratice hit and run so that your
laser tanks can hit without getting hit against other vehicles
sandbikes and buzzsaws take 5 hits
Missle tanks take 3 hits
minos take 7 hits
assault tanks and mongoose take 5.
Fremen warriors are used to take out all infantry at range. Plus your opponent
will not be able to see them unless they fire. Usually hark players will send
their saws after them. But your laser tanks should be able to intercept them
ontime before they get run over as long as you tell them to retreat behind your
laser tanks.
Gasers and AA troopers should be kept in the back becasue they'll be used for
building demolition or keep them in the spice field for destroying harvesters.
Other notes:
Laser tanks are best used on open maps where you can run around and make your
opponent look like a fool
Fremen warriors take out fedaykin in 2 shots. Regualar sardaukar take 2
shots. Elites take 4 shots.
10K VERSION:
On 10k non prebuilt you'll have to modify your build order also it should go
something like this:
windtrap
barricks or factory first depends if you want to scout first
ref
ref or fremen tent you can sell the tent and get 2 free fremen at no charge
except for the 600 you pay for the tents
As for numbers of rushing units there really is no fixed number it all depends
on how well you keep your units alive. You can beat someone with only 7 units
and acheive a kill rate of 60 kills to about 3 or 4 losses depends on how well
you micromange everything
